Getting Lost in Translation

Filed under: Language — Tags: — admin @ 12:36 pm

My fiancé recently moved here from Beijing, China since we will be marrying in less than a year. I am bilingual, and have no trouble at all communicating with him, but our friends sometimes misunderstand the context of his speech. He asked me to help him find some english courses in brighton, so that he will better be able to make use of proper grammar. I think this is a great idea and I’m sure he will do very well. I may even take the courses with him. I am currently a teacher, and it never hurts to gain additional knowledge. I may very well remember some lessons that I have not thought about in years. Learning another language is such an important activity as it allows the mind to exercise and keeps it active and prevents it from going stale, it is such a joy to also learn about a new culture and meet interesting people around the world. I highly recommend it to anyone.

My Long Distance Boyfriend Wanted to Learn English Once He Moved to Be with Me in Canada

Filed under: Language — Tags: — admin @ 9:42 am

I have been in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend for the past two years. We had lived in two different countries until now, because he was tired of the distance and wanted to move where I was located in Canada. Since I knew four languages, communicating with him in his native voice was no problem. However, he wanted me to look into english courses in Canada, so he could learn the main language here. I honored his request, and found his a class close to where I lived. My boyfriend will be here in another week, and it will be so nice to not have to fly on a plane thousands of miles away to see him. Language is such an important aspect of life as it opens doors not only to a new skill but also to a many cultures, food, people, clothing, music, movies and so on and so forth. It such a joy to learn a new language and it certainly makes life a whole lot more interesting.

English Fiction And Non-fiction Writing Courses

Filed under: Language — Tags: — admin @ 8:49 am

Knowing a language is one thing and knowing to write is a completely different ball game. With more and more number of language enthusiasts interested in publishing their own work, English schools around the world offer fiction and non-fiction writing courses. While the latter generally is a specialised course in journalism, fiction writing deals with writing novels, poetry and even scripts. Non-fiction writing courses also deal with writing biography and autobiographies along with other things.

Different English schools use different techniques in their courses but what you can expect to get at the end of the course is the knowledge of character development, plotting, planning and creating a climax for a piece of writing. A lot of English schools offer these courses globally online as well and can be taken up as an additional course while you study another subject at the varsity. The main requirement to make it through to these courses is a sound knowledge of basic English, grammar and sentence construction.
